Every since I was a little girl I have always had tiny bumps on the back of my arms, and upper thighs. It has always been really annoying and it makes me very self conscious because they are somewhat noticeable and I just don’t have a nice smooth skin others have. But I have found out this affects many people. It is inherited and there is no cure. It is called KERATOSIS PILARIS. My dermatologist has products to help treat this skin problem - but it can get very expensive and I just don’t have that extra cash to spend on myself. KERATOSIS PILARIS looks like you always have goose bumps and it can occur anywhere on your body except the palms of your hands and soles of your feet. It is usually rough and dry skin and sometimes can be red. In any case - no matter what yours may look like - it is just plain annoying. But we are not alone. I just had a baby a couple of months ago during my pregnancy and even now - it is worse than ever!!! The winter months don’t help either because it is worse in the winters dryer months. The summer humidity seems to relieve the skin problem. I have tried everything but I’ve come up with something that seemed to work - at least for me. First of all I loofah everyday in the shower - it helps exfoliate the skin. Then I put 2% salicylic astringent on the problem areas - I use Biore - works for me. Then I put on some moisturizer. I use Palmer’s cocoa and Shea butter mixture. I also every other day dry brush in circular motion the problem areas. It is still there - but it’s getting better. Seems like a lot of work but it really is only 5-10 minutes a day. Be sure to always stay hydrated - drink lots of water Hope this tip helps others!!! *Always be sure to consult your doctor if you have a current or pre-existing condition before trying natural remedies. Natural remedies are sometimes not best for all people. Filed under: Natural Remedies ![]() Comments:
