Between the ages of 40-50 most commonly menopause will hit all women! For the lucky some it will last only a few months with mild to no symptoms and for others and most it will hit hard with those hot flashes, night sweats and emotional imbalances. There are of course the hormonal replacement therapies but if you can go the all natural route without take those invasive drugs that seems like the best and probably cheapest way to go…if it works for you. It’s worth a try though just to avoid the discomforts of this life altering event! To reduce or eliminate the symptoms of Hot Flashes here are some tips: *Reduce certain elements in your life - stress, alcohol, coffee, smoking, hot weather or environments, sugar, spicy foods, anger and rage - keep your emotions in check!! *Take some Vitamin E with Vitamin C supplements or simply increase foods high in vitamin E and C in your diet *Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes *Try taking up yoga *Try acupuncture *Wear cotton material pajamas *Drink water and stay hydrated!!! *Have a cup of ginseng or sage tea *Don’t forget to breath - relax and concentrate on breathing *Try some bee pollen - found in capsules form *Increase calcium and soy in your diet *Have some hawthorn berry *Use some basil or thyme for aromatherapy *Take cool showers in the evenings *Have some sarsaparilla *Get off that diet and just eat healthy *Instead of a heating pack/bottle fill it with cold water *Keep ice near your bed *Try some licorice, spearmint or raspberry tea - or better yet iced tea *Add more citrus fruits to your diet *Have a Tylenol before bedtime *Get an air conditioner in your bedroom! *Add more whole grains and beans to your diet *Have some violet or dandelion tea *Increase your phytoestrogens. Some herbs are black cohosh, wild yam, dong quai, and valerian root. This has been said to reduce hot flashes. *Add more soy food products to your diet (Tofu, soybeans….) *Go for a massage to reduce the stress in your life *Add flax seed to your diet *Try 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar every morning *Be sure to consult your doctor before taking herbs though. And personally I would get started early on eating more healthy and even taking some evening primrose in your late 30’s. It’s right around the corner to 40 and time does go by quick!! *Always be sure to consult your doctor if you have a current or pre-existing condition before trying natural remedies. Herbal remedies are just as potent as over the counter medicines so always be sure to ask your doctor about them before trying them and always read the labels for correct dosages. Natural remedies are sometimes not best for all people. Filed under: Natural Remedies ![]() Comments:
