When my baby was an infant she had a blocked tear duct. The poor kid always has eye goop comparable to what happen when you get pink eye in her eye. The doctor said if it did not go away by the time she was 1 that they would operate on it…I couldn’t stand the thought of my 1 year old having eye surgery - I could just picture it leading to more problems when she is older. Having a block tear duct makes her eye more susceptible to infections so I did a little research and of course asked my doctor what I could do about it. Here are some things to do if you baby has a blocked tear duct to prevent surgery. There’s not too much but this is what I did: *2-3 times a day massage the inside corner of the eye near the nose. *Keep it clean - when you see it tearing gently wash it off with a damp cloth. *I washed it with a little breastmilk *I have also hears of putting chamomile tea on a damp cloth and washing it off with that. And that is basically it - easy enough. Simple information that prevented eye surgery. I did this for 9 months and it took a long time but it was worth it in the long run. Aye, 9 months for a treatment…How many months had your child had the tear duct blocked?

I know - crazy huh! The breastmilk really helped out the best. But it eventually went away on its own..I was just afraid of her getting pink eye or an eye infection. The blocked tear duct caused her eye to be very watery and weepy. I think it bothered me more than it did her though :)

I heard that collidal silver and a herbal mixture called e.-w clears up a clogged tear duct.
