So, what is kale? Well it is part of the cabbage family but a more important question is how healthy is it and what can kale do for your overall health… *Helps prevent osteoporosis - great for strengthening your bones because it is a good source of calcium *Great anti oxidant that helps reduce the risk of cancers - such as colon and breast cancers (helps promote cell regeneration) *Great source of vitamin C, vitamin A and manganese *Helps maintain a healthy cholesterol level *If you are pregnant eat more kale - good source of foliate!! *Great food if you are on a diet - it gives you the feeling of being more full and low in calories *Reduces the risk of developing tumors *Helps prevent ear infections *Great for your eye health and helps prevent cataracts *Helps respiratory problems such as asthma and respiratory diseases *If you smoke or are around smoke - eat more kale - it helps protect you against emphysema *Great for your immune system preventing colds *Help reduce the risk of Rheumatoid Arthritis *Great for your overall cardiovascular health - helps reduce risk of heart disease and stroke *Gives you energy - so if you need an energy boost - eat some more kale *Helps prevent lung and stomach disease *Great for you nervous system *Great food for detoxifying your body *Helps treat irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and diarrhea *Great for digestive disorders *Helps male and female fertility Eating it raw (no more than 2 servings a day)has shown to have more health benefits than cooked. And as with spinach if you have a pre-existing kidney or gallbladder condition you may want to limit your kale intake. Personally for me kale is an acquired taste but well worth it!! *Remember as with anything always eat/drink in moderation!! Too much of anything is not good for you. And be sure to always consult your doctor for pre-existing and current conditions before trying natural remedies. Filed under: Vegetables Comments:
