There are so many great resources out there for people and families that have autism. The autism support is great on sites such as the Autism Support Network. If you have a child that has Aspergers, Retts Syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder to name a few then there is help for autism affected families. Sometimes you just need more education to really understand it and if you do not know or work with children that have autism then you may not truly understand their needs. It is real and it affects 1 in 150 children…affecting more males than females. The numbers are just crazy and I personally wish that there was more research going into the cause of this. They are trying to treat it but you have to know the cause before you can really treat it. I also think that once a cause is found then prevention is the best method. I think it is very environmental…but we all have our own theories on this.
