Health and Beauty Tips of the Day!!

Dandruff
Posted on 12.19.08 by Your Natural Remedies @

So you have dandruff - now what. You have a couple of choices…Go spend a fortune of fancy hair products that may or may not work, live with the snowfall from your head or try some cheaper and possibly more effective natural remedies for your dandruff problems.

*Stuff to rub on your scalp - soybean, garlic, ginseng, avocado, alfalfa, corn, fava beans and elderberry

*Put a little grapefruit seed oil in your shampoo - it’ll make it smell really nice too

*Put a crushed aspirin in your shampoo

*Brush your hair daily

*Try making a celandine rinse - also great for hives, dry skin and warts

*Relax - stress causes dandruff!!

*Go out into the sunshine

*Make a beet juice, lime or lemon juice rinse - a little lemon juice will also bring out natural highlights

*Massage some burdock, Aloe Vera or coconut oil on your scalp

*Try massaging some honey on your scalp

*Make a ginger or licorice

*Put a little tea tree oil on your scalp

*Give yourself a little scalp massage with olive, avacado or almond oil

*Don’t over blow dry or over shampoo your hair

*Before you wash your hair massage your hair with an apple cider vinegar rinse - it’ll make your hair really soft and shiny too!

*Cut back on your refined sugars and don’t drink beer

*Make a rosemary or thyme tea rinse

Try some of these and see those flakes fly!!

*Always be sure to consult your doctor if you have a current or pre-existing condition before trying natural remedies. Natural remedies are sometimes not best for all people.

Natural Insomnia Cures
Posted on 12.17.08 by Your Natural Remedies @

I don’t know about you but when I can not get to sleep it is because I am just thinking way to much and once you get to that point sometimes it is near inpossible to relax and actually sleep. Then you fall asleep an hour before you have to wake up and then you are really exhausted. Here is an updated list of things that you can do to help with your sleep!

*I have read that Valerian root is the best sleep inducing natural herb. There is the tea that is not all that bad.

*Lemon balm oils in a sachet would work wonders

*Have a couple of teaspoons of honey in water before you go to bed

*Make a sachet of hops and lavender and put it under your pillow at night

*Try some red tea

*Make yourself a honey bath

*Have some passion flower - great for sleep disorders

*Add more oranges to your diet

*Eat more oatmeal

*Laughing will help relax you and help you sleep better

*Rub the bottom of your feet with garlic cloves

*Eat more foods high in potassium

*Try taking up yoga

*Cut back on salt, white flour products, white sugar products, caffeine, alcohol, greasy fast foods and processed foods

*Eat more lettuce and celery - celery has a ton of sedatives in it!!

*Have an herbal bath with lavender or chamomile oils

*Eat more foods that contain tryptophan. Tryptophan occurs naturally in turkey, milk, cheese, bananas, and pumpkin seeds.

*Have a nice cup of warm or cold milk before you go to bed.

*Have a cup of peppermint, chamomile or lemon balm tea - chamomile and lemon balm are the best for this!

*Start from 1000 close your eyes and count backwards

*Have sex

*When you are in bed - visualize and relax every individual body part - flex your feet and relax them, clench your fists and relax them, squeeze your toes and relax them…..

*Put fresh onions right next to your bed - something about the aroma will put you to sleep

*Two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and two of honey in a glass of water - drink with a straw and hold your nose - it’s gross!

* There is something called Sun Gazing that has been said to cure insomnia completely that you may want to look into

*Turn of your mind and relax - try not to think…easier said than done!!

There’s always the old counting sheep if all else fails!!

*Always be sure to consult your doctor if you have a current or pre-existing condition before trying natural remedies. Natural remedies are sometimes not best for all people.

Cracked Lips
Posted on 11.16.08 by Your Natural Remedies @

Well…tis the season for those cracked lips! And here are ways to prevent and fix them if you already are experiencing this terrible side effect of the cold winter months!

*Put olive oil on your lips
*Apply aloe vera gel on your lips
*Honey is great for cracked lips
*Make a paste of vaseline, butter, olive oil and sugar to put on your lips
*Beleive it or not - orange juice will help.. it will sting though at first!
*Make a paste with crushed rose pedals and apply it to your lips…also helps your lips retain their color and beauty
*Cocoa butter is fabulous for cracked lips
*Try fresh cucumber slices on your lips
*Scrub your lip with baking soda and then apply with moisturizer
*Apply castor oil to your lips…although….yuck!
*Add more vitamin A to your diet like Carrots, tomatoes and green leafy vegetables
*Put neem leaf extracts to your lips
*Never peel your lips
*Put lip balm on before you apply your lip stick
*Apply milk cream to your lips

Always keep your lips protected in the cold and windy weather/months. Cover your mouth with that scarf and do not keep on licking your lips..it will dry them out and the cracking will begin! Try not to bite you lips either and always drink plenty of water and stay hydrated! Put moisturizer/lip balm on your lips before you go to sleep every night.

Be sure to contact your doctor or dermatologist before doing natural remedies.

Paper cuts
Posted on 07.02.08 by Your Natural Remedies @

There is nothing more annoying than getting a piece of paper and in the process getting a papercut! Here are some quick tips to help you get rid of it and take the pain and the sting away quicker:

*Put a raw potato on it for 10 minutes

*Put some witch hazel on the paper cut

***Try a little chapstick on the paper cut - sounds weird but I have tried it an oddly enough it worked for me. This one gave me instant pain relief and it seals up the wound protecting it from germ.

*After you wash it try a little super glue or nail polish - it will seal the paper cut. Or you can try that liquid bandage also

*Put a little honey on it - the sweetest of natural remedies…the power of honey is amazing!

Remember what may work for one person may not work for someone else.
