Avocados
Posted on 04.06.07 by Your Natural Remedies @

I’ve been requested to find the benefits of Avocados. Personally, I can’t stand the taste of an avocado…however, after researching the benefits of an avocado maybe I’ll start to acquire a taste for them.

*It has been used to prevent osteoporosis. It is a great source of vitamin D and helps turn the calcium into bone.

*They are high in vitamin E which is great for the heart (helps prevent, heart disease, stroke, and other heart related issues)

*Helps treat gout (which is a form of arthritis)

*Quarter cup mayonnaise mixed with 1/4 cup mashed avocados for great deep conditioning for you hair!

*Rub it on your scalp to cure dandruff problems

*Helps keep your high cholesterol down to a normal level

*If you have asthma add avocados to your diet

*Great source of anti-oxidants which help fight against cancer cells and anti-aging qualities

*Helps maintain a healthy blood pressure because of it’s source of potassium - even more than bananas!!

*Has been found to prevent prostate cancer

*Said to once be considered as an aphrodisiac

*Throw and avocado in your regular salad with tomatoes and spinach…because it helps reap the benefits of those vegetables/fruits - brings out their healthy qualities and benefits. Did you know that an avocado is a fruit!

*Great for your skin - rub an avocado on your dry skin - it softens it right up and gives you a great complexion! Eating avocados also benefits your skins appearance not to mention that they are really great for your stretch mark problem

*Also great for a sun block - yes - rub and avocado on your skin before you go in the sun as natural ultra violet ray protection!

*Great fruit for your nervous system because it contains thiamine

*Has been linked to be a possible prevention of diabetes

*May help with your weight loss - it is a “heavy” food so you appear to be more full than you may actually be thus making you eat less!!

*Avocados are low in carbs but very fattening - but it is considered the better of the fats - mono saturated however, so as with everything good or bad - always eat in moderation and enjoy because they are a great addition to a well balanced diet and are great for your overall health!! And be sure to always consult your doctor for pre-existing and current conditions before trying natural remedies.

If you don’t like avocados try using avocado oil in some of your dishes instead of regular vegetable oils especially in your fried food dishes!!

Remember…everything in moderation - too much of anything is not good for your health.

Kale
Posted on 03.16.07 by Your Natural Remedies @

So, what is kale? Well it is part of the cabbage family but a more important question is how healthy is it and what can kale do for your overall health…

*Helps prevent osteoporosis - great for strengthening your bones because it is a good source of calcium

*Great anti oxidant that helps reduce the risk of cancers - such as colon and breast cancers (helps promote cell regeneration)

*Great source of vitamin C, vitamin A and manganese

*Helps maintain a healthy cholesterol level

*If you are pregnant eat more kale - good source of foliate!!

*Great food if you are on a diet - it gives you the feeling of being more full and low in calories

*Reduces the risk of developing tumors

*Helps prevent ear infections

*Great for your eye health and helps prevent cataracts

Eating it raw (no more than 2 servings a day)has shown to have more health benefits than cooked. And as with spinach if you have a pre-existing kidney or gallbladder condition you may want to limit your kale intake. Personally for me kale is an acquired taste but well worth it!!

*Remember as with anything always eat/drink in moderation!! Too much of anything is not good for you. And be sure to always consult your doctor for pre-existing and current conditions before trying natural remedies.
